The Galilee region consists of Israel’s two finest regions – the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights. In these regions Wineries produce there finest and premier wines.
The Upper Galilee region is made up of mountainous forests. There’s a reason this region is pegged as Israel’s most beautiful vineyard region. The soils are heavy, but well drained. They tend to be a mixture of volcanic, gravel and terra rossa soils. The elevation ranges from 350-1,000 meters with temperatures ranging from 0-150C in the winter and 12-300C in the summer.
The Golan Heights region is a volcanic plateau which rises up to 1,200 meters above sea level. This region has three sub areas the Southern Golan, Middle Golan and Upper Golan. The Southern Golan soils are basaltic with an elevation of 350 meters. The Middle and Upper Golan soils are volcanic tuff and basalt with elevation from 500-1,200 meters. Because the region is right next to the Hermon they benefit from the cool snowy breezes.
